The Leigh Arms, in Little Leigh, is gearing up to host its annual Steam Party, complete with a collection of steam engines, vintage vehicles, steam boats and a world famous steam tug called Kerne on the adjacent River Weaver. The Daniel Adamson (The Danny) is usually there as well.
I’ve attended this event several times now and there is plenty to photograph and a lovely atmosphere. It’s very informal and the owners are happy to chat and pose.
And, of course, the pub is open.
The only real snag is parking. There is very little in any case and none to be had on the weekend. Living in Weaverham I will walk down. If you want advice on possible parking spots get in touch, but they will all involve a mile or two walking in.
