Astrid McGechan, a talented photographer based in Surrey, firmly believes that photography and emotion are inseparable companions. Just as any other art form, photography has the power to evoke feelings, memories, and connections. But how does one intentionally capture or evoke emotions in their photographs? And how can we gauge whether we’ve succeeded in doing so?
Astrid uses a variety of techniques to capture her response to a scene and recreate it for the viewer through her photographs, such as long exposure, camera movement and deliberate defocusing.
In her inspiring, Astrid takes us on a light-hearted journey through her creative process.
Astrid has curated several art exhibitions and judged international photography competitions, such as UK Landscape Photographer of the Year. She is also a Photography Tour Leader for Light & Land. Her images have been exhibited in prestigious galleries in the UK and Europe and are held in private collections in Europe and the US.
