Valda has largely given up camera club presentations due to pressure of work etc but the facility to give presentations from home means she has now started to do a few, so we feel very honoured that she has agreed to give a presentation to our members in Frodsham.

Valda has a background in painting and uses various techniques to blur detail and abstract shapes in the landscape. Her work straddles different genres and disciplines. Summing up her work in one line does not do her justice.

She tells me that her talk is about furthering one’s imagination when making images. The very real rewards that can come from letting go of the constraints of conventional photography and allowing ourselves to be led by ideas and instinct. Not only with regard to subject matter but with colour, composition, focus, exposure and all the other doctrines that are held to be sacrosanct.
We have learnt to paint with our camera and instead of being preoccupied with replicating what we see, we are concerned with interpreting it and presenting an impression – abstract or otherwise.

Her website is a must-see, www.valdabailey.com

Presentation starts at 19:30 prompt. Don’t be late!
