Wilson Trophy Team Dinghy Racing, West Kirkby
The Wilson Trophy is widely regarded as the premier team racing event in the world, attracting some of the world’s most skilled exponents of the discipline, along with many fleet racing and match racing world champions and Olympians.
It is held annually in May, taking place at the ‘theatre of dreams’ that is West Kirby Marine Lake. The venue is perfectly suited to team racing with (usually) uninterrupted winds blowing across the Dee Estuary with racing taking place meters from the shore, complimented by commentary and a grandstand for spectators.
Meet at 12:30 in the public car park by Morrisons situated off Dee Lane at the north end of the lake (note the road alongside the lake is one way going South). Parking there £5 for the day (you can pay by card), if full street parking wherever you can find it but many roads have time restrictions.
Racing starts at 13:00 Andrew‘s mobile is 07764 449097. Anyone not there by 12:45 will find us scattered around the marine lake. The dinghies come quite close to the edges of the lake but a long lens would be preferred.
There will be plenty of opportunities for street photography, sport photography and ICM techniques. For an overview of the venue take a look here.
UPDATE 25/4/22 – Unfortunately Brian has had to drop out of co-ordinating this event so Andrew Williams will now take that on.
The details are unchanged for now, we are preparing a document to email to all attendees.
If you are coming to this event, please email Andrew on email@example.com with Wilson Cup as the subject. Please include your name, email and mobile number. This will help plan the event and allow me to send out details.
